Admissions
Issued by the Office of the Registrar — how admission to Mully College works, from first enquiry to reporting day, across all programmes examined by TVET CDACC or KNEC.
Our Admissions Philosophy
Mully College's admissions process for MCF-sponsored students is holistic and compassionate, recognizing the unique circumstances and potential of each applicant. Mully College recognizes the transformative power of education, particularly for individuals who have faced significant adversity. As such, the admissions process for MCF-sponsored students is designed to identify those who will benefit most from the opportunity and contribute positively to the college community and beyond.
Admission decisions prioritize candidates demonstrating significant need and potential, considering factors such as level of destitution, chosen career path, socio-economic background, and specific vulnerabilities like being a teenage mother, orphan, or former street child. The college is dedicated to providing these students with the resources and support they need to succeed academically, personally, and professionally, empowering them to become leaders and agents of change in their communities.
Two entry routes, one standard
MCF-sponsored applicants
Children and youth under the care of Mully Children's Family progressing from MCF's basic/secondary education programmes into technical and vocational training. These applications are initiated internally through MCF's Education and Sponsorship desk in coordination with the Registrar's Office.
Self-sponsored and community applicants
Members of the public, including graduates of other secondary schools, mature applicants and holders of prior TVET/KNEC certificates, who apply directly to the College — including online through this website.
Both routes converge at the same point: no applicant is admitted without completing the standard application file and meeting the published entry requirements for the programme and level.
Intake Periods
Mully College follows the standard TVET academic calendar of three intakes per year, aligned to the intake windows set by TVET CDACC and KNEC:
January intake
May intake
September intake
Exact opening and closing dates for each intake are published on the College notice board and communicated ahead of each cycle; short courses and artisan-level programmes may open additional intake windows subject to trainer and workshop capacity.

- KCSE mean grade D (plain); OR a relevant Level 3 certificate; OR equivalent qualification recognised by KNQA.

Selection
- Admission is based on merit against the published minimum entry requirement for the specific programme and level, and on available trainer and workshop/laboratory capacity.
- Mully College does not discriminate in admissions on the basis of ethnicity, religion, sex, disability or socio-economic background. Reasonable accommodation is considered for applicants with disabilities.
- Priority consideration is extended to MCF-sponsored beneficiaries transitioning from MCF's own education programmes, consistent with the College's founding mission; places for self-sponsored applicants are allocated from remaining capacity.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and mature-entry applicants (typically aged 23 and above) may be admitted on the strength of demonstrated work experience and a competency interview, subject to KNQA/TVETA guidance.
- Provisional admission may be granted where an academic requirement is met but a document is outstanding; provisional status must be cleared within a stated grace period.
You can apply online, contact us at [email protected], or visit the Registrar's Office at Yatta Campus to apply.
International Students
Mully College welcomes applications from non-Kenyan students, including from the wider East African region and beyond. International applicants follow the same academic route, with these additional requirements:
Additional requirements
- A valid passport (copy of the biodata page) valid for the intended duration of study
- A Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) equivalence/recognition letter for the applicant's prior qualification
- Where instruction has not previously been in English: evidence of English proficiency
- A recent medical certificate of fitness, and evidence of health/medical insurance valid in Kenya
- Passport-size photographs meeting Kenyan immigration specifications
Immigration & student pass
Once admitted, the College issues an official Admission/Support Letter used to apply for a Kenyan Student Pass (Class D) through the Department of Immigration Services or a Kenyan embassy. Students are responsible for securing and renewing their own Student Pass; the Registrar's Office issues supporting letters but does not process immigration applications.
Accommodation & arrival
Boarding accommodation on Yatta Campus is available to international students, subject to capacity, and is strongly recommended. A local guardian or next-of-kin contact within Kenya is required for international students under 18, and recommended for all.
Tuition & Fees
A detailed breakdown of tuition and fees for Certificate and Diploma courses is available from the Finance Office. International (self-sponsored) students pay fees as set out in the current Fees Structure, payable in Kenya Shillings or an equivalent quoted in US Dollars.
Refunds for self-sponsored students are governed by the College's Fees and Refund Policy; the application fee is non-refundable.
Financial Aid — the Mully Education Trust
The majority of students at Mully College are children and youth under the care of Mully Children's Family, whose training is funded through the Mully Education Trust (MET).
- MET sponsorship typically covers tuition, boarding, and core programme costs for eligible MCF-sponsored beneficiaries for the standard duration of the programme.
- Sponsorship is tied to continued good standing under MCF care and the College's academic and conduct requirements; continuation each term is subject to review.
- Certain costs typically remain the responsibility of the student or guardian — for example personal effects, optional trips, and in some cases external examination or certification fees charged directly by TVET CDACC, KNEC or a professional body.
- Self-sponsored students are billed directly per the standard Fees Structure; bursaries or partial sponsorships (county bursaries, HELB where applicable, church or community sponsors) are handled through the Finance Office and should be declared at application.
